dick clark productions has expanded the global reach of the 2017 American Music Awards through a partnership with China’s Alibaba Group that provides artists with an extended platform to promote the event.

Ahead of the 2017 American Music Awards, artists will be promoted across Alibaba’s digital media and entertainment sites, with a combined reach of nearly 500 million active users, ultimately drawing consumers to the video-streaming site Youko, which will stream the awards show. The 45th American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 19, at 8 p.m. on ABC in the U.S.

The Alibaba digital media and entertainment sites that will be used to promote the 2017 American Music Awards include China’s popular social media website Weibo, and the number-one mobile browser in China, India and Indonesia, UCWeb. Artists will be actively promoted across additional verticals, including the short-video platform Tudou; the home entertainment service, OTT, high-quality music-streaming platform Xiami; and the concert and event ticketing platform Damai.

“As the world’s largest fan-voted awards show, The American Music Awards honors the biggest names in music while providing viewers with compelling, one-of-a kind artist performances,” said Mike Mahan, the president of dick clark productions. “We’re thrilled to partner with Alibaba Group to expand the AMA platform further into China and provide artists the opportunity for even greater global reach.

“We are thrilled to partner with the 2017 American Music Awards to bring Alibaba consumers and content together through the excitement of fan-favorite artists, live performances and memorable moments in pop culture,” said Gao Xiaosong, the chairman of Alibaba Entertainment’s strategic committee.

“The relationship with Alibaba will continue the growth of the American Music Awards in China by engaging the Chinese audience across all of Alibaba’s platforms and giving them more access to some of the biggest music stars in the world, beginning with the nominations and building through to the show on November 19,” said Mark Rafalowski, the executive VP of dick clark productions International.
