Jakks Takes Toy Rights to Barney

MALIBU/NEW YORK, June 20:
Jakks Pacific has signed a multi-year, multi-product licensing agreement with
HIT Entertainment to develop a range of merchandise based on Barney.

Categories
will include learning toys and plush, with product slated to begin hitting
retail stores in North America next spring. “Our Child Guidance team will
strive to create a line that not only embodies Barney, but which will also
inspire creativity and imagination in children for years to come,” said
Jennifer Richmond, the senior VP of licensing and media at JAKKS Pacific.

“JAKKS
Pacific is the ideal partner to create toys that capture the magic of Barney,”
added Jamie Cygielman, HIT’s senior VP of consumer products. “Barney is a
beloved character who has been entertaining and educating children with fun,
music and laughs since his debut nearly twenty years ago.”
