Dancing with the Stars Lands in Colombia

LONDON: BBC Worldwide has placed the Dancing with the Stars format in Colombia, where a local adaptation is due to premiere tonight.

The 55×1-hour title marks the first daily prime-time version of the program in Latin America. It will air on RCN weeknights as Bailando con las estrellas. Among the contestants are international model Natalia Paris; Ana Pacheco, a former member of the FARC guerrilla group; and Jhon Frank Pinchao, one of 60 policemen taken hostage by the FARC. The Dancing with the Stars format has been adapted in more than 50 countries.

“Few dance formats have attained the audience levels or popularity that have made Dancing with the Stars a classic in this genre at the global level,” said Anna Gordon, the executive VP and managing director of BBC Worldwide Latin America/U.S. Hispanic. “We are confident that RCN Colombia’s Bailando con las estrellas will gain the series new fans in this rapidly growing market.”
