Zonemedia Acquires ABC Prime-time Documentary Series

LONDON, March
23: In its first deal with Buena Vista
International Television (BVITV), Zonemedia’s Zone Reality has acquired the
rights to the ABC News Primetime
6×1-hour human documentary series Medical Mysteries for broadcast in the U.K.

Medical Mysteries examines rare disorders and syndromes in medicine
today, ranging from why one mother can't recognize her own child's face to why
another young woman spends most of her life sleeping. Over the course of the
six-part series, doctors will work on cures for these baffling conditions and
solve genetic puzzles, explaining how and why these rare conditions occur.

Gosia Walak, the
programming and acquisitions manager for Zone Reality, commented, "We are
very pleased to be working with Buena Vista International Television and we
hope this acquisition will herald the start of a long relationship. This show
is exactly the right fit for our Zone Reality channel with its clear focus on
how everyday lives can be turned upside down by medical nightmares which continue
to remain a mystery for the world's experts."
