Zodiak Sells Millennium Film into New Territories

LONDON: Men Who Hate Women, the first feature film in the Millennium trilogy, has been sold by Zodiak Entertainment into five new territories.

NFP (Distribution Warner Bros.) in Germany, Paradiso in Japan, Polyfilm in Austria, Mirovision in South Korea and Lusomundo in Portugal have all picked up local distribution rights. Men Who Hate Women has now been sold into more than 30 countries in total and grossed more than 50 million euros ($72.1 million) at the box office, making it 2009’s third largest earning foreign-language film.

The film, directed by Niels Arden Oplev, has a cast that includes Swedish star Michael Nyqvist and newcomer Noomi Rapace. Adapted from the Stieg Larsson trilogy, Millennium is produced by Yellow Bird. The Swedish production outfit is also producing two further titles: Millennium 2 (The Girl Who Played with Fire) and Millennium 3 (The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest).
