Zee Entertainment Enterprises Gears Up for MIPTV

MUMBAI/LOS ANGELES: At MIPTV 2016 Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) is presenting its catalogue of more than 210,000 hours of content, including the family drama Wedding Bells (KumKum Bhagya).

The modern series mixes comedy and drama, looking on as a mother who runs a marriage hall attempts to get her two daughters hitched. New dramas that the company will present for the first time are Adhuri Kahani Humari, Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum and Kaala Teeka. There is also the family drama Jamai Raja (Son-in-Law) and the comedy Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai (His Neighbour’s Wife).

Zee’s slate also includes the docuseries Spirit of India. The nation of 1.2 billion people “has more festivals than any other country in the world, because in India, history lives in these celebrations of lights, colors, music, dance and sheer spirit,” says Sunita Uchil, the global head of syndication and CRO of international. There’s also the documentary series The Incurables. Hosted by singer/songwriter Jewel and documentarian Don Wildman, it follows the inspiring real-life stories of people who turned to alternative methods to heal from their chronic, often life-threatening diseases and beat the odds.

In addition, Zee is offering the Indian format Dance India Dance, which features a variety of international dance styles ranging from classical to contemporary to hip-hop to Bollywood and more. The company is also presenting programs from its U.S.-based health and entertainment network Z Living, including the Emmy nominated series Good Food America, hosted by Danny Boome; Rock Your Yoga, which combines Eastern and Western practices; Sports Dads featuring professional football player Dion Sanders; and Under the Sun, a globe-trotting adventure series that takes viewers along on the hunt for organic farming techniques, medicinal plants and healthy foods.

Uchil comments, “We have done well in all parts of the world with our programs and are confident these shows will bring much success for our partners.”

At MIPTV, Zee Entertainment Enterprises’s CEO and managing director Punit Goenka and the CEO of international broadcast business, Amit Goenka, will be among the recipients of the 2016 Médailles d’Honneur. “Zee is proud of our accomplishments and pleased that Amit and Punit Goenka will be in Cannes to receive a well-deserved honor, recognizing Zee TV as a leader in both Indian and global programming,” Uchil says. “We have our full team at MIP to present many great programs in both Hindi and [the] English language for our broadcast partners from around the world. We expect this to be the best MIPTV yet!”
