ZDFE to Bring Digital Specials to Cannes

MAINZ: ZDF Enterprises has a number of digital specials to showcase to buyers, among them Planet Egypt.

Planet Egypt is a web special that presents Ancient Egypt, unlocking secrets of this ancient civilization. Users can go on missions to decrypt hieroglyphics, crack image codes, learn the techniques of mummification and the science of temple construction. The user can also created a personalized avatar and share their missions with friends via Facebook or animated e-cards.

Also from ZDFE, the three-part documentary Dawn of the Ocean now lets Internet users interact with the habitats of ocean dwellers in the web special Ocean Worlds. The special, enhanced with CGI animation, can be used in traditional 2D or 3D. It allows users to enter an interactive underwater world to become acquainted with life in the depths of the sea. A Dawn of the Ocean iPad app is also available. The content is based on the doc and the associated web content.

The web special The Wall features various aspects of the decades-long separation of Germany by the Iron Curtain. The exploration begins with an info-graphic depicting West Berlin surrounded by the wall. The wall is then shown in various stages of its existence, with hot spots informing users about particular facts.

South Africa introduces the country to web users with a colorful info-graphic that allows users to click on hot spots with text, audio tags and short videos providing facts. Among the facets explored are apartheid, diamonds, safety, Cape Town, the Kruger Park and Nelson Mandela.
