YouTube Becomes Founding Partner for MIP Digital Fronts

PARIS: MIPTV has revealed that YouTube is the first founding partner to come on board for the inaugural MIP Digital Fronts.

The MIP Digital Fronts will be held on Wednesday, April 9, in the Palais des Festivals. They will take place during the 51st annual MIPTV, which will be held from April 7 to 10. The MIP Digital Fronts are positioned to be the first international screenings to showcase and trade original online video programming and web series. As founding partner, YouTube will present a showcase of channels and content partners.

“MIPTV offers a great international platform to reach the world’s entertainment community and we are proud to be one of the founding partners of the new MIP Digital Fronts,” said Ben McOwen Wilson, the director of YouTube for EMEA. “The new MIP Digital Fronts initiative will offer an excellent global platform for YouTube creators, digital studios and traditional television and film studios to promote their web video talent and programming.”

“In just over eight years, YouTube has revolutionized the entertainment industry, in a blink of an eye becoming the world’s online destination for producers and content creators to build new channels and establish their brands with audiences on a global basis,” commented Laurine Garaude, the director of Reed MIDEM’s television division. “YouTube’s announcement to join the new MIP Digital Fronts as a founding partner, confirms the international demand for a European-based screenings showcase to accelerate the marketplace for original online video.”
