Youth Media Alliance Names Awards of Excellence Winners

TORONTO: The Youth Media Alliance presented its Awards of Excellence to a host of Canada’s top English-language children’s programs, among them Artzooka!, League of Super Evil and dirtgirlworld.

The Grand Prize for best program went to Stella and Sam. Two special Jury Awards were given out, one for television, going to What’s Your News?, and another for digital and interactive content, presented to TasteBudsTV.com.

The Awards of Excellence across all genres went to The Ocean Room (3 to 5), Artzooka! (6 to 8) and Vacation with Derek (9 to 12). For animation, the Awards of Excellence winners were dirtgirlworld (3 to 5), Mixed Nutz (6 to 8) and League of Super Evil (9 to 14). The winner for interstitials was Gisele’s Big Backyard, while the award for best original interactive content went to Ruby Skye P.I.: The Spam Scam and best convergent interactive content winner was TasteBudsTV.com.

In addition to the awards for the best programs, the YMA presented three special awards celebrating the work of Canadian creators. The Outstanding Achievement Award went to producer Bonita Siegel. The Emerging Talent Award went to Stephanie Betts, the VP of development at DHX Kids. The special anniversary Outstanding Achievement Award went to Degrassi and its producers Lynda Schyler and Stephen Stohn.
