Xilam’s Oggy and the Cockroaches Greenlit for Third Season

CANNES, October 9: French
pay-TV broadcaster Canal+ has acquired the third season of Xilam’s animated
comedy series Oggy and the Cockroaches, for premiere on its new Canal+Family channel, which debuts this
month.

Production is currently
under way on the series in Paris, and is scheduled for delivery in summer 2008.
The animated series, which totals 200×7 minutes or 65 half-hours, stars Oggy, a
domesticated feline, whose life is turned upside down by three cockroaches who
constantly torment him.

The first two seasons have
already been licensed to a host of broadcasters including France 3 (France),
TPS (France), Canal J (France), Super RTL (Germany), Mediaset (Italy), ITV
(U.K.) and Cartoon Network (Japan). In total, the series has aired in nearly
150 countries worldwide. Worldwide distribution rights for Oggy and the
Cockroaches
are handled by Xilam,
excluding all English-speaking territories, which are handled by Cake
Distribution (U.K.).

Marc du Pontavice, the
founder and president of Xilam, said: “We’re flattered that buyers have
responded so enthusiastically to a third series of Oggy and the Cockroaches and delighted that Canal+Family will be premiering
the series in France. It works well internationally because it is colorful,
fast paced and the animation is outstanding. We have already received strong
interest from a number of broadcasters and MIPCOM provides us with a great
opportunity to advance negotiations.”
