WE tv Expands Slate of Wedding Programming

NEW YORK, August 16: The female-targeted cable network WE tv
has unveiled an extensive new lineup of original and acquired programming for
its WE Go Bridal wedding block,
including the VH1 reality series The Fabulous Life Presents: VH1’s
Big Fat Fabulous Wedding.

Launched in June, the WE Go Bridal block has dramatically increased wedding content on
the network, branding a special evening each week for wedding programming, and
has built an online portal of shared bridal content and information.

New original programming includes the 6×1-hour series Wedding
Central
, produced by LMNO Productions, which premiered on
August 12. Each stand-alone episode of the series follows the key players in a
wedding, other than the bride, including the bridesmaid, caterer, cake
decorator and in-laws.

Other original programming include the hour-long special 10
Most Famous and Fabulous Wedding Dresses
,
which premieres in February 2008. Produced by Kaos Entertainment, the special
is WE tv’s countdown of the top ten most famous wedding dresses in the world,
with experts and designers on hand to discuss the dresses in detail. The
original hour-long special, Beach Weddings, also produced by Kaos Entertainment for premiere in February 2008,
features four weddings in four diverse beach locations with four unique beach
themes.

WE tv’s wedding slate also includes acquired programming
like the 7×30-minute series The Fabulous Life Presents: VH1’s Big Fat
Fabulous Wedding
, from Pink Sneakers
Productions and VH1. The series is about the outrageous behavior that is
displayed when a rich couple plans their extravagant wedding. Other acquired
series include the 26×30-minute series Rich Bride, Poor Bride from Buck Productions that premiered on August 13.
The series takes a closer look into the life of a wedding planner as they work
with a couple to attempt to create the wedding of their dreams while remaining
within the confines of their tight budget.

The wedding initiative has expanded beyond the success of WE
tv’s signature series, Bridezillas,
which premiered in 2003.

“This summer WE tv dramatically increased its wedding
content on the network, branded a special evening each week for wedding
programming, and built an online portal of shared bridal content and
information all under the WE Go Bridal
block,” said Kim Martin, the executive VP and general manager of WE tv. “With
this new investment in original wedding-related programming, the network is
looking to maintain its leadership position to provide a multiplatform
destination point for weddings and the bridal community. With billions spent
each year in this marketplace, we know there is a huge consumer demand for this
type of programming.”
