Robert Greenblatt, chairman of WarnerMedia Entertainment and direct-to-consumer, is being honored as the MIPCOM 2019 Personality of the Year.

In Greenblatt’s current role, which he took up in March, he is overseeing the launch of WarnerMedia’s new direct-to-consumer service HBO Max, as well as HBO, TNT, TBS, truTV and Otter Media, with responsibility for all creative and operating decisions across the portfolio worldwide. Prior to this, Greenblatt served as chairman of NBC Entertainment, where he was credited with putting the network back at the top of the ratings after a decade with a lineup of hit programming that included This Is Us, Will and Grace, The Voice and The Good Place. He started his career as a producer of several award-winning shows, including HBO’s Six Feet Under.

Greenblatt will be honored at a gala dinner at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes and will take part in a keynote interview on Tuesday, October 15, during which he will share his unique perspective on this year’s theme, “The Streaming Offensive.”

“Robert Greenblatt is one of the most respected entertainment executives in our industry,” said Paul Zilk, CEO of Reed MIDEM, organizer of MIPCOM. “His passion for creative excellence, his pioneering spirit and ground-breaking approach to programming have changed the face of the industry and in recognition, we are honored to welcome him to Cannes as the MIPCOM 2019 Personality of the Year.”
