VisionTV Revamps Saturday Programming Lineup

TORONTO, February 8: The
Canadian multi-faith and multicultural network VisionTV
is altering its Saturday lineup to better serve South Asian viewers by
introducing weekly feature films from Bollywood.

The new schedule has been
given its own distinct brand: Desi Vision, which the network plans to launch an
extensive print and outdoor advertising campaign for in the South Asian
Canadian community.

Bollywood feature films
will join VisionTV’s Saturday lineup on March 1. Classic titles include Ek
Hi Raasta
and the family saga Sooryavansham, starring legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. Other
highlights include Raincoat, a
contemporary romance inspired by traditional Indian literature and classical
music, and Krishna Cottage, a
tale of love and the supernatural. The new Saturday lineup will also include
the magazine series Bollywood Gupshup, which will deliver reports from the world of South Asian
entertainment.

In addition, VisionTV has
overhauled its lineup of established South Asian programs, moving a number of
titles to new time slots. The hits Des Pardes and Aikam will now appear in prime time.

Mark Prasuhn, VisionTV's
COO and senior VP of programming, said: “We are proud to be the only national
basic cable broadcaster offering such an extensive selection of faith,
information and entertainment programming for South Asian Canadians. The
decision to enhance VisionTV's Saturday lineup is a sign of our continued
commitment to this fast-growing community.”
