Vintage TV Gains Access to Getty Archive

LONDON: Ahead of its launch, Vintage TV, the U.K.’s new music and pop culture channel aimed at viewers 50+, has signed a pact with Getty Images for access to its still-image and footage archive.

Vintage TV can source content for 500 specially-created music videos and exclusive in-house productions from Getty’s library of more than 360,000 still images and 8,000 hours of footage clips. This unprecedented access for a new channel will include Getty Images’ historical imagery and footage collections such as the Hulton Archive and premium music archival collections, together with its Archive Films collection.

“This is a hugely exciting development for Vintage TV. The quality of content to be found in Getty Images archival collections is world-renowned," said Vintage TV’s founder and chief executive, David Pick. "As such, Getty Images are the perfect partner as we gather momentum towards our launch. From a creative perspective, this arrangement will further enrich the consumer experience which we continue to build across five decades of popular music, culture, fashion and trends from the 1940s to the 1980s."

“We are delighted to be a key content-provider for such an exciting new TV channel," added Josh Rucci, the senior director of sales for Getty Images. "This partnership reflects our goal to inspire communicators and give them the tools to create engaging work and content. Our archival stills and footage showcases some of history’s most defining moments, as well as providing a visual essay for everyday life from years gone by. The opportunity to be a part of Vintage TV’s programming for launch and beyond is a hugely exciting one and we look forward to seeing the creative results achieved by the new channel.”
