Vikram Channa Upped at Discovery Asia-Pacific

SINGAPORE: Vikram Channa, the VP of content for Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, will be taking up a new role as VP of programming for India and head of production for Asia Pacific.

Channa will be based out of the company’s New Delhi office, and will assume his new role on July 1. He will report directly to the executive VP and managing director of Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, Tom Keaveny, on all Asia-Pacific production matters, and to senior VP and general manager of India, Rahul Johri, on all issues related to programming for India.

As VP of programming for India, Channa will be responsible for managing and directing all aspects of programming for the network, with oversight of the India programming team. He will also be working closely with other departments such as marketing and advertising sales to maximize opportunities in line with the company’s business. In his role as head of production for Asia-Pacific, Channa will continue to advise the Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific country heads and provide editorial direction on issues pertaining to local and regional productions. Channa joined Discovery in 1995, taking on various roles, from on-air promotions to programming and production. Together with his team, he has executive produced more than 500 documentaries.
