Video Interview: DRG’s Diane Rankin

NEW YORK: Diane Rankin, the senior VP of acquisitions at DRG, discusses what she is looking for in the documentary and factual-entertainment spaces, and sheds light on the flexible models the company is using with producers worldwide.

Documentary specials, lifestyle series and factual-entertainment shows are all key elements of the DRG catalogue, from the historical The Real King’s Speech to younger-skewing fare like The Stafford Brothers to personality-led offerings such as Martin Clunes and the Lion Man. Rankin is actively seeking out high-quality factual fare to add to the DRG slate, with a particular emphasis on brands that will resonate with audiences across the globe. Most recently, Rankin took on Living in the Time of Jesus, produced for National Geographic in the U.S., and My Mother Diana, a production for Channel 4 in the U.K. Announcing the representation deal for the doc specials, Rankin noted that they “bring a powerful new perspective on two of the world’s most iconic stories.”
