STOCKHOLM: On May 3, Viasat Broadcasting is to launch its new channel Viasat Nature East, an international version of its Nordic Viasat Nature pay-TV network, to 25 countries across Central and Eastern Europe.

At launch, Viasat Nature East will air in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine through Viasat’s own satellite platform. The channel will later be available on Raduga TV, the Russian satellite TV operator. Viasat Nature East will later be made available to third-party operators in 25 Central and Eastern European countries. The network will air a range of nature-, animal- and wildlife-focused programming, including content acquired from the BBC, ITV Global, ORF and TWI.

Hans-Holger Albrecht, the president and CEO of MTG, commented: “The launch of Viasat Nature East highlights the strength of our business model, which allows us to export successful Nordic concepts to a broad range of platforms and channels in the Emerging Markets. The launch of Viasat Nature East will be our most extensive launch to date in terms of geographies, and we look forward to expanding the offering to our viewers even further.”
