VH1 & HISTORY Team for Woodstock Celebration

NEW YORK: In celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic music festival Woodstock, HISTORY and VH1 Rock Docs have joined forces on a two-hour documentary that looks at the event’s legacy through the eyes of today’s musicians and activists.

Woodstock: Now & Then chronicles the days leading up to, and throughout, the event, which took place in the summer of 1969, when more than 500,000 people gathered for a three-day music festival. It weaves together first-hand accounts with rare archival images, set to an iconic soundtrack. The film also seeks to examine why Woodstock and all it symbolizes is still relevant in today’s culture.

The two-hour documentary will premiere on August 14 at 9 p.m. on VH1 and VH1 Classic and on August 17 at 8 p.m. on HISTORY. Woodstock: Now & Then is directed and produced by two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple and executive produced by Michael Lang, the original festival organizer.
