MIAMI: The format rights to Venevision’s telenovela The Black Widow have been sold to the Indonesian production company PT. Wayang Sinema.

The Black Widow (La Viuda Joven) is the first mini-series format to reach Indonesian television, with pre-production commencing in the fall. PT. Wayang Sinema is currently searching for ventures and collaborations with top companies in Indonesia to produce the series.

The novela’s story focuses on Inmaculada Rojas, a woman who marries a wealthy German after being scandalized and cast out of a beauty pageant. When her husband dies, she subsequently remarries two more times to millionaires who also die, leaving her reputation sullied amid accusations of being a “black widow.” It is originally from a story by author Martin Hahn.
