Univision Showcases 2009-10 Lineup

NEW YORK: The 2010 World Cup is a centerpiece of Univision’s programming slate for next season, alongside Televisa novelas like Dare to Dream and unscripted fare such as Make Me Laugh and Become A Millionaire.

"At the heart of Univision’s success is a proven formula of top notch programming that no other network can match," said Ray Rodriguez, the president and COO of Univision Communications. "Year after year, Univision broadcasts many of the most watched programs, which on many nights outdeliver its English-language network competitors. We are very excited about our 2009-2010 line-ups, including once again being the exclusive Spanish-language home of the World Cup, which reached 50 million viewers in 2006 and is sure to be an even greater success in 2010 in high definition across our networks."

New prime-time novelas for Univision include Atrevete a Sonar (Dare to Dream), a modern-day ugly duckling story; Un Gancho al Corazon (A Blow to the Heart), about an ex-stock-car champion racer meeting a beautiful female boxer; En Nombre del Amor (In the Name of Love), in which two sisters fall in love with the same man; and Sortilegio (Lucky Spell), from one of Mexico’s most successful producers, Carla Estrada. For the daytime schedule, Univision has lined up Verano de Amor (Summer of Love), about a group of young friends who grow up together in the beautiful seaside town.

The reality slate includes Viva El Sueno (Live the Dream), a 13-week competition that showcases talented but struggling professional Hispanic performers who need just one big break to make it to stardom; and Hazme Reir y Seras Millionario (Make Me Laugh and Become A Millionaire), in which a contestant, a comedian and a celebrity work to make the audience and the judges laugh. In addition to a cash prize, the winner will win a trip to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.
