Universal Eyes Sale of Specialty Label

LOS ANGELES, October 21:
Universal Studios is said to be in advanced talks to sell off Rogue Pictures,
its indie label focused on the horror and teen comedy genres.

According to the New
York Times
, talks are under way to
offload the division to Relativity Media, which recently extended and expanded
its co-financing partnership with Universal through 2015. The expanded
relationship is expected to fund 10 to 15 films per year and will provide
billions of dollars of financing during the term.

The deal being discussed
for Rogue would include 25 library titles and more than 30 development
projects. Universal would continue to distribute and market Rogue’s titles.
