UKTV Style Commissions New Format

LONDON, May 16: UKTV Style
has commissioned a new format, Ty’s Big British Adventure, which sees Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s Ty Pennington set out to transform the Cornish
coastal town of Portreath.

Produced by Twofour, the
five-part series will follow Pennington as he tries to restore Portreath for its community members. The town’s park was
badly damaged by storms earlier this year, and Pennington, along with community
representatives, must come up with a way to fully fund the project and complete
the restoration in an aesthetic and environmentally friendly way, all within
one week. The series begins filming this month, and will air on UKTV Style in
August.

UKTV’s commissioning editor, Catherine Catton, said: “Ty Pennington is a huge hit with our audience, and we are delighted to
have the opportunity to work with him and make such an emotionally powerful
show.”

Philip Whelan of Twofour
added, “It’s a very exciting challenge to take a huge U.S. celebrity and put
him in a British context. The big difference is that in this series he will be
working with the whole community, uniting them to work together for the benefit
of all. But with just a week and limited funds, he's going to need all his
powers of persuasion.”
