Ugly Betty Emerges as Top New Show of the Season

BURBANK, October 2: Ugly Betty, ABC’s adaptation of the Colombian novela Betty la fea, has emerged as the highest-rated new show of the
fall season, delivering 16.1 million viewers and a 4.9 rating and a 14 share in
adults 18 to 49.

The show also generated ABC’s best scripted-show numbers in
that Thursday 8 p.m. time slot—where it is up against Survivor—in more than 11 years. The show came in second
to CBS’s reality stalwart, but did win the time slot in all female
demographics.

Meanwhile, Grey’s Anatomy continued its winning streak, again beating out CSI on CBS across the key adult demographics: 18-34
(8.7/23), 18-49 (9.4/22) and 25-54 (10.3/22). In the 18-49 demographic, Grey's Anatomy
beat CSI by 19 percent.

Overall, ABC qualified as the number one network on Thursday
night in adults 18-49, beating out CBS (6.2/16 vs. 6.0/16).
