U.S. & Canadian Broadcasts, Screenings Set for NFB Docudrama

TORONTO: The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has lined up the TV broadcast premieres and a host of additional Canadian and U.S. screenings for Paris 1919, which comes out on DVD in North America this week through BFS Entertainment.

Inspired by Margaret MacMillan’s bestselling book and narrated by R.H. Thomson, Paul Cowan’s docudrama merges archival footage with re-enactments to depict the world-changing events of the Paris Peace Conference. Paris 1919 screened at film festivals around the world, including the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and Hot Docs, and won the Banff World Television Award in the category of history and biography programs.

Further screenings are set for Toronto, Stratford, Winnipeg, Antigonish, Waterloo, Ottawa, Okotoks, Thunder Bay, Halifax and Calgary in Canada, as well as in New York. The screenings are set through November 19. The Canadian TV premiere of Paris 1919 is set for TVOntario on November 11 at 9 p.m., with repeats November 15. The U.S. TV premiere is set for Military Channel on November 13 at 8 p.m., with repeats November 18.

Paris 1919 comes to DVD in Canada and the U.S. this week through BFS Entertainment. The disc includes English and French versions of the film, a “making of” documentary and in-depth interviews with Margaret MacMillan and R.H. Thomson.

The film was produced by the National Film Board of Canada in co-production with 13 Production, in association with Galafilm in co-production with Arte France and in association with TVO, Télévision Belge, Simple Production, GA&A Productions, SBS, TV Australia, Télévision Suisse Romande and Yle Teema Finland.
