LONDON: Sky has acquired 110 hours of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? for its game show network Challenge in a deal with Sony Pictures Television’s 2waytraffic, which also sold the Irish, Canadian and U.S. versions of Dragons’ Den to UKTV’s Dave.

Challenge has been hosting a special Who Wants to be a Millionaire? month through June at 9 p.m. each weeknight. Challenge has also licensed 2waytraffic’s integrated online game for the series for its website.

The male-skewing lifestyle channel Dave will serve as the home for the U.K. premieres of all three versions of Dragons’ Den. The U.S. version, Shark Tank, was recently re-commissioned by ABC for a third season. The Irish version is an RTE commission. The Canadian version is produced locally for CBC.

Ed Louwerse, 2waytraffic International’s managing director, said, “Both Dragons’ Den and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? are doing fantastically around the world and have really established themselves as global, evergreen hits. Alongside format sales, our finished programming business is on the rise and, with our gaming innovations, illustrates just how much extra value can be generated as we identify new platforms for fans to interact with their favorite series.”
