Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution Delivers Comedies, Dramas

LOS ANGELES: Terra Nova, The Playboy Club and New Girl lead off Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution’s MIPCOM slate.

In Terra Nova, an ordinary family travels back in time to prehistoric earth in an experiment aimed at saving the human race. Terra Nova is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television, Chernin Entertainment, DreamWorks Television and Kapital Entertainment. The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg (Super 8), Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Brannon Braga (24, Star Trek: Enterprise), René Echevarria (Castle, Medium), Jon Cassar (24), Aaron Kaplan (Made of Honor, You, Me and Dupree), Katherine Pope, Justin Falvey (United States of Tara, Las Vegas), Darryl Frank (United States of Tara, Las Vegas), Craig Silverstein (KVille, Standoff) and Kelly Marcel. Alex Graves (Fringe, The West Wing), who also serves as executive producer, directed the pilot. The show launched in the U.S. on FOX in September.

New Girl, which stars Zooey Deschanel ((500) Days of Summer), is a comedy about a young woman who moves in with three male roommates after a bad breakup. New Girl is produced by Chernin Entertainment in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television. The series is created and written by Liz Meriwether (No Strings Attached). Meriwether, Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Freaks & Geeks), Peter Chernin (Terra Nova), Katherine Pope (Terra Nova), Dave Finkel (United States of Tara, 30 Rock) and Brett Baer (United States of Tara, 30 Rock) are executive producers. Kasdan directed the pilot and will continue to direct episodes of the series. FOX launched the show on September 20 in the U.S.

The psychological drama Homeland stars Claire Danes (Temple Grandin) as a CIA officer convinced that an American soldier is not who he appears to be. The show is based on Gideon Raff’s Israeli series Prisoners of War. Homeland is produced by Fox 21. The series is executive produced by Alex Gansa (24, The X-Files), Howard Gordon (24, The X-Files), Gideon Raff (The Killing Floor), Avi Nir (The Ex-List), Ran Telem and Michael Cuesta (True Blood, Dexter). The series debuts tonight on Showtime.

The Playboy Club is set in Chicago in the 1960s, featuring one of the most exclusive social organizations. The show is from executive producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Friday Night Lights, Lie to Me), along with Francie Calfo (Scoundrels), Chad Hodge (Runaway, Tru Calling), Jason Burns (The House Bunny, The Girls Next Door), Dick Rosenzweig (The House Bunny, The Girls Next Door) and Ian Biederman (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit). Hodge also wrote the pilot, which was directed by Alan Taylor (Mad Men, The Sopranos). The show is from Twentieth Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Alta Loma Entertainment for NBC.

From Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tick) and Brad Falchuk (Nip/Tuck), who are also co-creators of Glee, comes American Horror Story. The original psychological thriller revolves around a family who move into a new home, which appears to be haunted, playing off their fears. American Horror Story, set to air on FX, is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television. Dante Di Loreto (Glee, Temple Grandin), executive produces alongside Murphy and Falchuk.
