Wildbear Entertainment has launched Chronicle, Australia’s first dedicated history documentary streamer, with a catalog that includes new original programming.

Curated by historians and documentarians, Chronicle’s library features hundreds of series and films, as well as live and exclusive content from eminent historians. Highlights include the originals The Bomb: The Terror of World War II and As It Happened.

The Bomber: The Terror of World War II tells the story of the one weapon that changed war itself: the bomber. The weapon extended the scope of military conflict to the far borders of entire nations. Narrated by Callan McAuliffe, the six-part series features CGI recreations of the bombers and was directed by Dan Jobson. Edmund Duff served as producer, while Mike Keneally was executive producer.

As It Happened, meanwhile, pulls back the curtain on some of the most shocking, notorious and captivating news stories of the past century.

Other highlights include the Academy Award-nominated Berkeley in the Sixties; Lionel, the story of Australian Indigenous boxing legend and world champion Lionel Rose; The Grand Tours of Scotland series; Kokoda: The Spirit Lives; and Price of Empire: WWII, with archive and firsthand accounts from the Second World War.

Chronicle is supported by Screen Canberra.

“We know how much Australians love history programming,” said Michael Tear, CEO of Wildbear Entertainment. “What is unique about Chronicle is that it is curated by historians and documentarians, ensuring we present high-quality programs. The viewing experience is further enhanced by expert commentary and opinion, enabling audiences to go deeper into the stories that connect us all—that’s the power of history.”
