UKTV has commissioned the observational documentary series Classic Car Garage for its factual channel Yesterday.

The series follows Colin Denton, a skilled head mechanic who opens his North London garage on the weekends for classic car owners to come and get the help they need. Denton and his team tinker with a wide range of cars—from a 1931 MG M-Type Sportsman’s Coupe to a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 230e.

Produced by ClockWork Films, Classic Car Garage is executive produced by Heenan Bhatti and series produced by Paul Windle. The series is now in production.

UKTV’s Helen Nightingale said, “I’m so excited for our Yesterday viewers to see this stunning new series. Full of tips, hacks and fascinating facts, experts and amateurs all brought together for the love of classic cars.”

Bhatti, ClockWork Films’ founder, said, “From the moment we came across Colin, we knew we had discovered something very special—watching him and his incredible team solve these mechanical mysteries is simply wonderful. What the Classic Car Garage provides is an array of stories with authentic jeopardy and warmth in abundance, whilst delivering a look book of gorgeous cars and a VIP pass to a plethora of the classic car community’s most loved events. We must express our thanks to Helen and the whole UKTV team, who have backed ClockWork Films, as a growing regional indie, through the development and production of this exciting new series.”

Gerald Casey, Yesterday’s channel director, added, “Colin Denton and his team are the perfect addition to Yesterday’s stable of passionate experts. Sharing their workspace and hands-on experience with so many others is another example of how welcoming the classic car community can be, and we’re grateful to everybody for letting our cameras in too.”

UKTV also ordered a seventh season of Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled for its entertainment channel Dave. The chat show is produced by Phil McIntyre Television, and the new season is set to debut in early 2023. Davies returns to the table to host guests from the world of comedy and entertainment, with the only real agenda being that they must create a title for the episode before it ends.

Davies said, “I’m very excited to be back around the Untitled table with assorted raconteurs, wits and blabbermouths old and new.”

Mark Iddon, commissioning editor at UKTV, said, “As Yet Untitled is such a joy to make, and we can’t wait to get Alan sat back at that table alongside a new roster of as-yet-unbooked guests.”

Cherie Cunningham, channel director of Dave, said, “As Yet Untitled’s laidback format is a hit with Dave viewers and it’s a pleasure to welcome Alan Davies back for more.”

Series producer Lindsay Jex said, “We love making this series with the UKTV team. Alan is an absolute joy to work with; he’s warm, engaging and has such a talent for eliciting hilarious stories from whomever is sat around his table.”
