The recently launched Glasgow indie Two Rivers Media has tapped Lucy Bacon for the role of director of unscripted development, effective August 19.

She joins senior creatives Mirella Breda, head of entertainment, and Mick McAvoy, head of factual, at the company’s headquarters. Bacon was previously head of U.K. factual development at Warner Bros. Television Production UK’s Wall to Wall Media, a position she has held since 2016. In the role, she has overseen the development of projects including The Twinstitute (BBC Two), Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family (BBC One), The 100 Years Younger Experiment (ITV), Nadiya’s Asian Odyssey (BBC One), World’s Most Extraordinary Homes (BBC Two) and Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star (BBC Three).

Bacon also previously served as head of development at development central for BBC Productions, responsible for developing and pitching returnable formats across all platforms. Her credits include The Hairy Bikers, Chicken and Egg (BBC Two) and Who’s the Boss (BBC Two). Prior to that, Lucy was head of factual development at Remarkable Television and head of development at Shine TV. She has also held a range of development producer and development executive roles.

Bacon will lead a growing development team which includes Lucy Hazzard, who serves as head of factual development. Formerly at Minnow Films and a specialist in access-based documentaries, her portfolio includes series such as One Born Every Minute (Channel 4), Inside Birmingham Children’s Hospital (Channel 4), The Railways – Keeping Britain on Track (BBC Two) and The Model Agency (Channel 4). Hazzard and Bacon are supported by Development Producers Lotte Murphy-Johnson and Sophie Scott.

Alan Clements, CEO of Two Rivers Media, said: “Lucy is one of the most outstanding development leads in the U.K. She has originated, developed and pitched a wealth of program ideas, with much domestic and international success. Lucy is also experienced in both returning series and working with SVODs, areas in which we want to grow. We are in the process of creating one of the stand-out creative teams in the business and are delighted to have Lucy as part of it.”

Bacon added: “Two Rivers Media is one of the most exciting production companies in the industry, with bigger ambitions than many established players. I cannot wait to join the team. Lucy, Lotte and Sophie have a wealth of experience across the full breadth of unscripted. I am really looking forward to growing the team and building a development powerhouse, creating stand-out ideas for the U.K. and international markets.”
