TVF International Scores Deals Across Western Europe

TVF International has closed new deals with broadcasters and platforms in Benelux, Germany, France, Iberia and Monaco.

Avotros licensed Welcome to Babel: Painting Communism for its Close Up strand in Benelux. The documentary follows a Chinese-Australian artist as he paints the history of Communist China and the cultural revolution.

Also in Benelux, DPG Media bought the true-crime documentaries Stalking: State of Fear and The Trials of Kyle Rittenhouse. The latter follows the trial of the 17-year-old American accused of carrying out a mass shooting at a Black Lives Matter protest.

China’s Wild Secrets, narrated by Stephen Fry, was presold to German-French public broadcaster WDR/ARTE. ARTE also acquired China’s Abandoned Daughters, a portrait of the victims of China’s one child policy; China: Preparing for Dangerous Storms, investigating China’s military build-up; and Mandate for Murder: Britain’s Struggle in Palestine, examining Britain’s administrative rule in Palestine and its legacy in the Middle East.

ARTE also signed a deal for AI & You, exploring the impact of AI on the every day, and Rain: The Untold Story, about the science, impact and future of rain.

In Germany, Hearst Networks licensed three seasons of Digging For Britain and season two of Wings of the Great War for The HISTORY Channel. Deutsche Welle, meanwhile, bought Indigiqueer, which explores the intersection of queerness and Indigeneity.

Spain’s Movistar Plus+ signed a presale deal for The Ozempic Effect, the first in-depth investigation into the meteoric rise of the “wonder drug.” Movistar Plus+ also acquired Fluid: Life Beyond the Binary, How the Second World War Became a Global War, Ulysses: From Myth to Science and Theodor Herzl: The Man Who Made Israel.

TVF International sold My Dad the Sex Tourist, about the consequences of the sex tourism industry in the Philippines, where abortion is illegal, and Walk the Line: Escaping From China to the USA, following Chinese migrants as they cross the Darién Gap, to TV3.

TVI Portugal and CNN Portugal licensed Arming the Arctic, about rising geopolitical tensions in the Arctic, as well as The Myanmar Earthquake, Silent Soldiers: Russia’s Foreign Mercenaries and When Titans Clash: The Tariff War Hits Asia.

TVMonaco picked up Burnout: The Truth About Work, Your 100 Year Life, Bali Bombing: The Untold Story, The Reckoning: Hollywood’s Worst Kept Secret, Keith Haring: Street Art Boy, Quentin Blake: The Drawing of My Life, Keeping the Music Alive: In Defiance of the Taliban, Secrets of the Aquarium, The World’s Greatest Sporting Arenas and Brilliant Corners.
