The CBS Reality original commissions Written in Blood and Evidence of Evil are slated to return to the channel this fall.

Written in Blood is back for a 6×60-minute second season. Produced by Endemol Shine North, the series will once again be hosted by best-selling writer Simon Toyne, author of The Boy Who Saw and the Sanctus trilogy. Toyne will take viewers on a journey of discovery as he meets six of the world’s most popular crime fiction writers to discuss the influence that true crime has had on their writing. Each episode will delve into a different criminal case using reconstruction and real-life footage.

The authors featured in the new season of Written in Blood are Clare Mackintosh (Let Me Lie), Tess Gerritsen (Body Double), Mason Cross (the Carter Blake series), Sophie Hannah (The Mystery of Three Quarters), Peter Robinson (the Inspector Banks novels) and Karin Slaughter (Pretty Girls). Season two is due to premiere on CBS Reality on October 16 at 10 p.m.

New episodes of Evidence of Evil (previously titled Trace of Evil) will air on CBS Reality on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. from September 5. The series examines how advances in technology have revolutionized detective work, as seen through a selection of high-profile cases.

Sam Rowden, the director of programming for CBS Channels and executive producer on both series, commented, “True crime is an intrinsic part of CBS Reality’s DNA. We’re thrilled to have produced further episodes of Written in Blood and Evidence of Evil with our production partners, and to be giving our dedicated audience more authentic true crime from intriguing angles.”
