TLC Taps ABC Exec as Development SVP

SILVER SPRING: Former ABC executive Jason Sarlanis has joined TLC as the senior VP of development.

In his new role, Sarlanis will oversee development teams on the East and West coasts. He will be based in the company’s L.A. office, where he will report directly to Howard Lee, the executive VP of development and production at TLC.

Sarlanis joins TLC from ABC, where he served as VP of alternative series and specials. He was responsible for developing new shows such as To Tell the Truth and BattleBots. In addition, Sarlanis spearheaded Disney/ABC Television Group’s alternative department in the international format marketplace.

Prior to his time at ABC, Sarlanis was VP of original programming and series development at E! Entertainment Television. In that position, he had creative oversight of series such as The Soup, Fashion Police and Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Sarlanis also served as senior VP at Ryan Seacrest Productions.
