KIEV: FILM.UA Group’s Back to Basics videos with English graphics have become available to Amazon Prime subscribers in the U.S. and Canada, marking the first digital project produced by the Ukrainian company to be presented on the streaming service.

Back to Basics is a collection of short videos dedicated to Ukrainian culture, traditions and folk customs from their beginnings to contemporary times. In each video, a character recreates a festive female garment from the late 19th century to early 20th century that is specific to a particular historical region of Ukraine. Back to Basics joins FILM.UA’s feature film Battle for Sevastopol, crime series The Sniffer and drama Red Queen on the roster of projects Amazon has made available for Prime members. The pilot episode was released in May of this year on FILM.UA’s official YouTube channel and has garnered more than 44,000 views.

Tatyana Shershneva, the TV and digital rights sales manager at FILM.UA Group, commented, “Amazon is not a typical place for short clips, as the platform positions itself as an online movie theater. But the Back to Basics project attracted Amazon’s attention, since these videos are of an exceptionally high quality, both technically and in content.”
