Zee Plus, the co-production and development arm of Zee Entertainment Enterprises, has secured the first presale for the regional travel and cooking series The Spice Trails: Latin America.

The SBS Food channel in Australia has picked up the series, which invites viewers on an adventurous journey to discover unique spices found across several countries in Latin America. The Spice Trails: Latin America is currently in postproduction with partner TelevisaUnivision.

The show marks the first co-production between India (Zee) and Mexico (TelevisaUnivision).

Sunita Uchil, chief business officer at Zee Plus, said: “We are thrilled to announce our first presale deal for The Spice Trails: Latin America series with Australia’s SBS Food channel. I am confident that their discerning viewers will enjoy this tantalizing tour of Latin America, showcasing the spices, food, and culture of the region. The series will be ready in November and ready for broadcast worldwide. This series lends itself to localization, and we will be announcing other versions soon, such as The Spice Trails Asia, Middle East and Africa.”

Alessandra Vodicka, channel manager for SBS, added: “At SBS Food, we strive to celebrate cuisines and communities from all over the world. We’re thrilled to work with Zee Plus to bring a new show to our Australian audience that explores the diverse and delicious topic of spices found in Latin America. The Spice Trails: Latin America is an exciting series for us, as it showcases a region of the world less traveled by many Australians, and uncovers the distinctive world of spices, their flavors, uses and importance in many countries in Latin America. We look forward to showing this series on SBS Food in 2023 and look forward to working with Zee Plus on more food projects in the future.”
