ShinAwiL & Bebbak Partner for Sinéad O’Connor Doc

Irish production companies ShinAwiL and Bebbak have teamed up to co-produce the tentatively titled Sinéad, celebrating the work of musician Sinéad O’Connor.

Chuck La Bella, ShinAwiL’s Los Angeles-based executive producer, has brought in U.S. producer Orian Williams (Control, Shadow of the Vampire) as executive producer, alongside ShinAwiL CEO Larry Bass and Bebbak’s Dave Fanning. Maurice Sweeney (I Dolours, Saving The Titanic, Blood) will direct.

Williams said: “There are few artists who have impacted the world music scene like Sinéad O’Connor. I’m delighted to board this film and help tell Sinéad’s musical story.”

Bass commented: “There will only ever be one documentary with Sinéad involved that tells the story of her work in her own words. This is it. Seldom do we get an opportunity for an artist to take us into the story behind their greatest work.”

Fanning said: “From the very first time this wide-eyed teenager walked into my radio studio, I have watched in awe as she has re-invented her music and life, time and time again, always while wearing her heart on her sleeve.”

Jonathan Ford of Abacus Media Rights, which is handling global sales, added: “Bringing this film to world screens is one of those unique opportunities to deliver a global story as yet untold. This is what makes selling stories great.”
