Plimsoll Hires BBC & ITV Alum Richard Klein for Documentaries

Plimsoll Productions has appointed Academy Award-winning documentarian Richard Klein as head of documentaries for the U.K. and international.

During his career, Klein has produced more than 100 documentaries and has led factual commissioning at the BBC and ITV and run BBC Four. His credits include the Academy Award-winning Man on Wire, as well as The White Season, The Verdict, Life at the Extreme, Britain From Above, When Ant and Dec Met the Queen and Britain’s Most Historic Towns. He also oversaw the multi-award-winning Storyville strand for the BBC.

Additionally, Tom Hugh-Jones has been promoted to creative director of natural history and Jonathan Jackson to finance and commercial director. Chris Williams has been appointed as series producer. All will work out of the company’s headquarters in Bristol with Klein reporting directly to Chief Executive Grant Mansfield, Hugh-Jones to Head of Natural History Martha Holmes, Jackson to COO Christine Owen and Williams to Head of Factual Entertainment Karen Plumb.
