Pernel Media to Produce Blue-Chip Doc for France 5

PARIS: France 5 has commissioned Pernel Media to produce the blue-chip documentary miniseries Extreme Earth (working title).

The two-parter will air in prime time as part of France 5’s new Spectacular Science strand. Extreme Earth focuses on Iceland and Chile and looks at how each country is exposed to some of the most challenging climatic and geological phenomena. It explores human ingenuity in some of the world’s most extreme environments.

“This is an exciting new commission for us—a contemporary, blue-chip documentary project as we explore how new scientific and technical knowledge is enabling humankind to tame natural forces and transform challenges into exciting opportunities,” said Samuel Kissous, the president of Pernel Media.

Patricia Corphie commissioned the title for France 5. Kissous serves as executive producer. Pernel Media retains the rights for the series outside of France.
