LONDON: BBC Worldwide has unveiled the factual-entertainment series Stupid Man Smart Phone and MotorHeads as new original commissions for the global network of BBC Brit channels.

Stupid Man Smart Phone is a co-commission with BBC Three and will debut on the channel next year. The 6×60-minute show looks on as comedian Russell Kane participates in a variety of survival challenges with assistance from internet stars using smartphones. It is co-produced by Kalel Productions and Objective Productions.

MotorHeads sees motoring duo Tom Ford and Jonny Smith (BBC Brit's Mud, Sweat & Gears) search the internet for the most amusing car-themed videos. The 10×60-minute program is produced by October Films.

Ed Sleeman, commissioning editor for BBC Entertainment, stated: "Stupid Man Smart Phone might once and for all discover just how far our smartphones can take us as humans, but unfortunately the phones will be in the hands of brilliant comedian Russell Kane and a host of internet stars and so it probably won't. But we will certainly discover just how funny it is to give it a go!"

Hannah Demidowicz, commissioning editor for BBC Brit, added: "Stupid Man Smart Phone and MotorHeads are two exciting new series that will capture the imagination of our global BBC Brit audience. Smart, funny and inventive, they offer a fresh take on the survival and motoring genres that our audience love. A perfect fit for the channel, with charismatic talent and clever formatting, these series demonstrate just the type of content that we are seeking for BBC Brit."
