LONDON: Oxford Scientific Films (OSF), part of the Twofour Group, has appointed BBC Development Central alum Mike Philo to the newly created role of development executive.

In this position, Philo will be responsible for generating ideas that have both a high-end specialist and broad populist appeal. He will step into the new role at the end of August.

Philo joins OSF from BBC Development Central, where he has worked since May 2014. During his time there, Philo worked across a range of factual projects, including Tomorrow’s Food, DIY SOS and Food Detectives, with the in-house genre teams.

Clare Birks, the chief executive of OSF, said, “Mike is an exciting development talent and we are delighted he is joining us.”

Philo added: “’I have long admired OSF’s ability to mix the incredibly interesting with the absolutely entertaining; I can’t wait to get started.”
