VIENNA: ORF-Enterprise is reporting positive results from its trips to Sunny Side of the Doc and NATPE Budapest, clinching a co-pro pact with Scottish firm Maramedia and a host of deals in Central and Eastern Europe.

ORF-Enterprise has taken on distribution for Maramedia’s Wild Way of the Vikings, blending blue-chip wildlife and Nordic history. It will feature iconic animals of the Arctic and Nordic world as seen for the very first time by the Vikings as they journeyed to the New World. Co-pro partners are France 5, BBC Scotland and ORF. It will deliver in fall 2018.

“I’m so excited to be creating this ambitious film with so many talented and collaborative partners across Europe,” said Nigel Pope, exec producer for Maramedia. “ORF is at the very heart of the wildlife filmmaking industry and it’s thrilling that we’ll be working so closely together in the future.”

Marion Camus-Oberdorfer, head of content sales international at ORF-Enterprise, added, “We are honored to work with Maramedia and look forward to this exciting new collaboration!”

Coming out of NATPE Budapest, meanwhile, ORF-Enterprise has clinched a volume deal with Hungarian pubcaster MTVA for multiple Universum wildlife and nature titles.

Ceska Televize also picked up a selection of Universum documentaries, including Making an Ancient Forest, Vanishing Kings—Lions of the Namib and Lionsrock—Return of the King.

On the scripted front, Ukraine’s CAT bought the crime titles Tatort—Borderline and My Wife, a Stranger.
