New Multiplatform Digital Series for HISTORY

NEW YORK: HISTORY has launched HISTORY NOW, the channel’s first-ever social media series, focused on such topics as ISIS, immigration, space and inner-city crime.

HISTORY NOW kicks off with four 2- to 4-minute episodes. The first will follow Matthew Vandyke, the founder of Sons of Liberty International (SOLI), which aims to help fight terrorism and despotism. The second is about the Alteibawi family, who left Syria to start a new life in the U.S. The third tells the story of Sheyna Gifford, an “Earthstronaut” living in a 1,200-square-foot bubble in Hawaii as part of a year-long NASA-affiliated Mars simulation. The fourth episode is about Kevin Yarbrough, a “Change Agent” in Richmond, California’s Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS), which is meant to help young people stay out of trouble.

Throughout the year, HISTORY NOW will feature hundreds of evolving stories, with new characters being introduced every month and new content being made available almost every day. Content is now being offered on the HISTORY channel website and across all of the HISTORY NOW social media platforms. The web series is produced for HISTORY by Punched In The Head Productions.

“So much innovation in storytelling is happening online in real time,” said Paul Cabana, the executive VP and head of programming of HISTORY. “This is an incredible opportunity for us to feature personal history that can only be lived, documented and shared now.”
