LONDON: The Rare TV-owned factual studio 360Production has been commissioned by Channel 4 to produce a documentary that tells the story of the final Battle of the Somme, the 100th anniversary of which is being commemorated this year.

The Last Heroes of the Somme marks the 100-year anniversary of the first day of the final major British offensive of the Somme. The doc will feature the stories of the men who helped turn the brutal battle of attrition from a crushing defeat into a turning point that helped Britain toward victory in WWI. It will air on C4 as part of the long-running Secret History documentary strand.

Rob Coldstream, Channel 4’s specialist factual commissioner, said: “100 years on from the final day of this iconic battle, we are thrilled with this moving tribute to the men who fought that day. It’s a film brimming with fresh insight and carries a real emotional punch.”
