Nat Geo Reveals Slew of New Series

Among a raft of new series for National Geographic, a trio of greenlights examine pivotal moments in history, including a WWII project executive produced by Idris Elba.

The Color of Victory: Heroes of World War II (w.t.) reveals the true stories of soldiers of color who were integral to four of the greatest battles of World War II. It is produced by Elba’s Green Door Pictures and October Films.

Inside the FBI: The ’70s (w.t.) exposes the organization’s untapped archive from the most notorious cases of that turbulent decade. Produced by October Films, it features in-depth access to the agents at the heart of each case.

Waking the Dead (w.t.) follows the investigative organization The DNA Doe Project as it uses cutting-edge techniques to discover the identities of those whose bodies lie unclaimed and forgotten around the nation. The series is produced by Wall to Wall.

National Geographic and Antoni Porowski embark on a global adventure with the greenlight of No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski, an all-new docuseries following Porowski, New York Times best-selling author and star of Netflix’s Queer Eye, on his journey to discover the heritages of global celebrities by way of their ancestors’ food traditions, techniques and culinary experiences. Produced by Studio Ramsay Global, the show will see Porowski guide celebrities on an unprecedented journey toward cultural and personal discovery.

National Geographic also revealed the names of the seven critically acclaimed photographers featured in the upcoming six-episode docuseries Photographer from E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. The photographers include fashion photographer Campbell Addy, ocean and conservation photographers Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen, photojournalist Muhammed Muheisen, science photographer Anand Varma, portrait photographer Dan Winters and adventure photographer Krystle Wright. Photographer will premiere winter 2024.

Nat Geo further revealed the lineup of narrators for three blue-chip natural history shows. Awkwafina (The Little Mermaid, Awkwafina is Nora from Queens) is narrator for the National Geographic Disney+ original A Real Bug’s Life; Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Flood, Good Night Oppy) is executive producer and narrator for Queens; and Jeremy Renner (Avengers, Rennervations) is signed on for Incredible Animal Journeys.
