TORONTO: The culinary-themed documentary series Confucius Was a Foodie is slated to begin airing on Nat Geo People in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The 6×1-hour first season of Confucius Was a Foodie looks on as celebrity chef Christine Cushing explores traditional Chinese cuisine in North America while examining the philosophy of Confucius and his influence in today’s kitchens. The 7×1-hour second season, which is currently in production, is headed to Asia and Europe. The show is produced by Mark Media and sold by Picture Box Distribution.

Confucius Was a Foodie is about culture, history exploration, discovery, and we think it will have a perfect home on Nat Geo People,” stated Jason Loftus, the CEO of Mark Media. “We believe that food and culture are inseparable. It has been said that you can’t understand a culture until you taste it, and through this series we’re doing just that and bringing viewers along for the experience.”

“We are thrilled to have Confucius Was a Foodie land with Nat Geo People,” added Kate Sanagan, partner and director of sales at Picture Box. “The international response to this series has been gaining great momentum and we think there will soon be more broadcast homes worldwide.”
