TV Alliance teamed up with Chinese broadcaster CCTV to co-produce the documentary The Landing: Dark Side of the Moon, which it is showcasing at MIPCOM.

The documentary charts when the Chinese probe Chang’e 4 and its moon rover Yutu succeeded in landing on the far side of the moon on January 3, 2019. In the nine months that followed the landing, TV Alliance and Chinese state broadcaster CCTV co-produced a doc on this subject, featuring unique and exclusive images that not only show the spectacular landing on the dark side of the moon, but also offer insight into the People’s Republic’s space program. The former German space shuttle astronaut Prof. Dr. Ulrich Walter comments the landing from the Western point of view.

“We are happy that we were able to realize such an exciting and extraordinary project together with our colleagues from CCTV. The Chinese production team did a great job and made everything possible. It was a very pleasant cooperation,” says Michael Radtke, managing director of TV Alliance.

Additionally, TV Alliance is launching at MIPCOM the infotainment series Inside China, about science, research and technology from the country. The program shows different projects in the fields of science, research and technology from China. TV Alliance produced the series in cooperation with CCTV.

“I wouldn’t know any other country in the world making more use of its potential than China?” says Radtke.

Three more seasons, each with 12 episodes, are planned for 2020.
