MagellanTV Unveils Top Titles of 2022

MagellanTV has revealed its best performing titles of 2022, with Planet Hunting with the James Webb Space Telescope taking the top spot.

The MagellanTV original documentary short chronicles the technological feats, achievements and potential of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope.

The runner-up, Lady Killers with Martina Cole, sees the titular British crime writer examine the lives and crimes of the most notorious female serial killers in world history.

The popularity of such titles is underscored by the recent launches of the MagellanTV-fueled FAST channels Space Science Now and True Crime Now.

Other top programs in the space-science and true-crime genres are Exploring Venus, in which experts ponder the possibility of life on Venus, and Psychic Investigators, offering perspectives from law enforcement and renowned psychics as they work to solve the same crimes.

Top history titles of the year are Ancient Warriors, providing a closer look at ancient soldiers and warrior civilizations of the past, and The Bible: A History, exploring the major stories and characters included in the Scripture.

World of the Wild, featuring footage of animals across the globe as they adapt to changing environments, leads the nature category. Snake Boss, following pastry chef and puppeteer-turned-snake catcher Julia Baker as she helps others better understand the reptile, is the genre’s runner-up.

The year’s top war/military program is The Blitz: Britain on Fire, a three-part series focused on eight critical days in May 1941, when Britain was subjected to one of the most intense bombardments of WWII. The series is followed by WWI: The Long Shadow, which explores the legacy of The Great War and is presented by British historian David Reynolds.

Fascinating Places tops the travel/adventure category. The series of short documentaries focuses on breathtaking landscapes, capturing intriguing animal behavior and encounters with human inhabitants. Its runner-up, Girl Eat World, sees Chef Kamini Pather, winner of MasterChef South Africa, explore cuisine from different areas and cultures. Each episode features a different food and travel blogger.

These top 12 titles have been made available to stream in a playlist on MagellanTV that is accessible to all, including non-subscribers. Planet Hunting with the James Webb Space Telescope will remain available to everyone through the end of 2022, while the other titles will revert to subscriber-only after December 25.
