Love Nature has greenlit the second season of Malawi Wildlife Rescue, produced by the U.K.-based indie Icon Films.

The new installment of Malawi Wildlife Rescue will continue to follow the work of American veterinarian Dr. Amanda Salb and her colleagues at the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre. It will also take audiences along on the fieldwork the team does outside of the center. The second season of Malawi Wildlife Rescue will premiere across Love Nature’s branded linear and streaming platforms worldwide in April 2022.

Malawi Wildlife Rescue season two is a Love Nature original series and is distributed by Blue Ant International. Jo Robinson serves as series producer. Executive producer for Icon Films is Stephen McQuillan; Alison Barrat, senior VP of production and development, and James Manfull, executive producer, will oversee the series on behalf of Love Nature.

Alison Barrat, senior VP of production and development at Love Nature, said: “The second season of Malawi Wildlife Rescue will include more fieldwork for the veterinary team and rescue stories from outside of the sanctuary. The new episodes have a sharper focus on the impact of humans in the region, with stories featuring illegal wildlife confiscations, as well as introducing more drama with large animal translocations and rescues as a result of human-wildlife conflict.”

Laura Marshall, CEO and co-founder at Icon Films, said: “Love Nature’s commitment to bringing animal stories to a growing global audience is key in sharing the important work of the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre. Season two of Malawi Wildlife Rescue, with its strong female-led team of vets, gives viewers a broader understanding of the challenges facing wildlife, while still giving an up-close look at the animals and people involved.”
