Idris Elba Working on New Doc Project

LONDON/CANNES: Woodcut Media and Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures are co-financing a new documentary, Cut from a Different Cloth, which will be repped by Content Media.

The one-hour doc centers on the fashion label Superdry, which has already made a name for itself in the U.K. and across Europe and is eyeing expansion in the U.S. and China. Cameras will follow Julian Dunkerton and fellow founder James Holder as they team up with Elba to launch their first premium fashion line.

Executive producers are Derren Lawford from Woodcut Media and Nicholas Yearwood from Green Door Pictures.

Yearwood commented: “With this film director Richard Terry has delivered an amazing behind-the-scenes insight into the inner workings of one of the world’s most iconic brands Superdry and its people. The film presents a side of Idris never seen on television before, that of designer and entrepreneur. Green Door are also happy to once again be collaborating with Woodcut on another groundbreaking documentary.”

Lawford added: “It’s highly unusual to get this level of access to the founders of a billion-pound company, especially while they’re knee deep in a high stakes launch. Not only did we get a fascinating insight into a great untold British success story, in the process we were also able to intimately capture Idris Elba’s latest professional adventure.”
