SANTA MONICA: Hulu and Live Nation have partnered on an immersive virtual-reality docuseries, On Stage, which takes viewers into the creative process of an artist’s live music experience.

The short-form, multi-part series will take viewers on a journey to find out what inspires certain music artists both on and off stage. The first episode, slated to debut on January 26, will feature Lil Wayne. Major Lazer will be the second installment, available later this year.

Each episode will be viewable on the Hulu VR app across all major VR devices.

“Virtual Reality is an entirely new medium, and On Stage is a first-of-its kind premium music experience,” said Noah Heller, the VP of emerging technology at Hulu. “Our partnership with Live Nation, a company that is synonymous with connecting music fans with their favorite artists, has allowed us to create an experience where you, the fan, are on the stage for the performance, and backstage with the artist. The result is a highly intimate experience that you cannot find anywhere else.”

“We are confident that virtual reality and immersive content around live music can deepen an artist’s relationship with fans and expand their audience,” added Kevin Chernett, the executive VP of global partnerships and content distribution at Live Nation. “Our content series with Hulu lets anyone transcend into an immersive world and feel like they are side by side with the featured artist—a thrilling journey that fans couldn’t otherwise access.”
