Video Interview: Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story’s Director & Stars

After moving home to the remote Scottish islands of Shetland, Billy Mail found himself lost in life, until a young, starving, orphaned otter showed up near his house. After naming her Molly, he took it upon himself to ensure she was fed, kept healthy and had the ability to survive on her own. Their story is documented in National Geographic’s new documentary Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story, which follows Billy and his wife, Susan, as they cared for Molly, who, in turn, allowed them to find their spark in life again.

In this video interview, director Charlie Hamilton James tells TV Real Weekly about how the documentary came together and his overall vision for the film, and the Mails share what made them comfortable with inviting the world into such a personal part of their lives.

The documentary, produced by Silverback Films, debuted on National Geographic on May 6 and is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
